Hey Guys...

A simple BIOS restart should get this up and running.

To do this without too much hassell...pull the power cable out of the back of the computer (from the power supply) andpush the power button 10 times. (yes i know it won't turn on )

Once you've hit 10 times...plug the power cable back in and boot up. All things being friendly, you should now be able to boot up your computer fully.

Rodents210 It would be a great help to me if you could please explain a wee bit more as to why you said "because it sounds like this problem started before you had a chance to mess up a RAM installation. "
Sorry. My modem died and I've been unable to get access to the internet. What I meant is that the problem started before you removed the stick that originally came installed in the PC, so it would work off that at least, but you were having the problem. Since that stick was untouched, there wasn't a whole lot you could have done to botch that yet... I hope I made myself clear.

Hi guys, Sorry for taking so long to get back to the post. I do appreciate your patience.

spectre777 my sons comp didn't get fixed, both the 512mb of RAM are back in my comp, I have tried booting with only my 512mb of RAM and then with only my sons 512mb, Even with both of them back in my comp I still only got as far as a black screen, however there is a new problem now. Please read below thanks.

Thanks for clearing that up Rodents210, Yes it does makes sense, however I was told that I had seriously damaged my comp by taking out the other 512mb of RAM and downgrading it. That's why I was asking in my post what damage I could have done to my comp by downgrading the RAM after an upgrade.

Ea, I can't enter the BIOS and it looks like we can go no further with this problem, for some reason unknown to me my comp will not stay on now.

When I switch my comp on it only stays on for around 5secs or less before it switches off by its self, I took the side panel off and tried to switch it on again, I can see that the fans power up and can also hear a noise from inside the comp, I hope this doesn't sound silly as It's very hard to describe the noise I can hear but I will give it a go, the noise is like a buzzing, not very loud though, like power, I hope that makes sense to you guys and doesn't sound to silly.

GaRHaR, I did try to do as you suggested but was faced with what I explained above.

I do apoligise for wasting your time on this guys.

Thanks anyway for trying to help me out with this.

Unless you removed the RAM incorrectly, which I doubt you've done, your PC should be fine in that area.

I thought this in the beginning and I think it's as good as confirmed: your PSU (Power Supply Unit) is dead or dying. I would check the wattage on the PSU you've got now, and just in case you upgrade something later I'd buy a PSU with about one step up from that. I suggest Newegg.com, as I do for just about everything. Wonderful site.

If you're inexperienced with computers, I strongly suggest having a professional computer store install your PSU. It's not hard but if I didn't know what I was doing, it would make me nervous changing that.

Do you still require any assistance with this issue?
