Hi all. A few days ago i installed mcafee total protection 2007 and that disabled my internet connection totally!! I couldn't fix it so i had to uninstall it. After uninstalling mcafee total protection 2007 still i couldn't join Internet!!

So i got mad and went and made repair installation of windows xp pro. After repair installation i couldn't activate it since Internet connection was still not working!! So i went and installed another copy of xp pro on different folder and named it WINDOWS (old one was WINDOWS2).Thanks god now i could join Internet but all my shortcuts and menu items are not visible. Could any one tell me what should i do with the old installation of xp folder (WINDOWS2)? Should i just delete it or should i copy some files from it? I be happy if an expert tell me what should i do with it.Thanks

Note: it would be nice if there be a way that i don't have to re install all my softwars and drivers.

The way that windows was installed...you will most likely have to reinstall your software, and you will definately have to reinstall your drivers.

You can get the shortcuts back, but they won't work as well - and you can safely delete your old WINDOWS2 directory.

Thanks for you reply. should i delete the folders of sofwares as well or should i use sofware's uninstall option?

Just deleting them is fine in this instance - as the uninstall from each software will look for registry entries in your current install of windows. Which it won't find.

Once you've reinstalled everything, i highly recommend doing around 10 defrags with the Disk Defragmentor (Right click on My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Defragmentor)
