Hi, im running windows MCE on my pc, i have also got an xbox 360 which it is hooked up to. The PC and console find themselves fine, however when i go to play a video file on the xbox i recieve a message on my tv saying "cannot play video, the file type is not recognised and cannot be played either correct codec is not installed or the file is corrupt". I cannot open any of my video files through media center on my pc either, it just says finished when i open them. I have an xp codec pack installed on my pc, and i have no problems playing these files through other applications such as WMP or winamp. Is there some form of media center edition codecs i need or something? I spent £50 on a wireless adaptor for my 360 so i could do this, and its doing my head in why it dosent work!

Are you trying to play these files on your xbox?
If so - I would suggest finding an xbox specific forum We're PC here

That being said - if it's MCE that's having the problems playing the videos...try a different video player.
