Question I get a Check PC Display Setting when I boot up xp

When I turn on my desktop pc I get a "Please Check PC Display Settings"
I can't get past the message. I tried hitting the F8 kit to no avail.
I’m running xp professional. I believe the problem started yesterday after a MS update
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Are you tapping the F8 key straight away (every second) after switching on the PC?

Hi and thank you,
I've tried holding it down, tapping it repeatedly and not doing anything

Do you see anything else at all besides this message on the screen during the startup?
Is the message in the middle of the screen in a blue box?

All I see is the message in a blue box that appears in the middle first and then in each of the corners almost like screen saver.

Ok, then it's likely that;

a) A cable from the monitor to the PC has become dislodged
b) Your graphics card has, in some way, become non-operational

...check the cables first...
