Only buttons ive pressed are DEL so I could have a look in the BIOS to see what order it was booting up. Was on 1) CD ROM 2) Floppy Disk 3) Hard Drive.

Thanks
Rich
What happens Rich ok is the system looks for boot files on all three media.
It looked at the cdrom and couldn't find an operating system, it looked at the floppy and the same happened, it finally looked at the hdd and it was not there.
Your hdd is down the pipe Rich sorry mate.

Hi,

Its been running really slow recently as well and making allot of noise! It was under quite some load. Had it about 5 years now, dont know how long their supposed to last.

Also do you know if I can get any of the data recovered?

Thanks all for your advice
Rich

There is software out that than recover some of the files but it costs, 30 day downloads may only allow you to see what you have lost but not recover it.
If it's really important then a professional recovery avenue is the one to go down but very expensive.

Always always back up your stuff mate as a hdd can die overnight without a moments thought.

Sorry Rich but you probably won't be able to get your data back, and ify ou want it back it will cost a lot. You will need to buy a new HD and reinstall Windows onto the new one. And the noise you heard is called the "Click of Death". If you want to you can google it for more info.

Sorry,
Adam
