Hey, the computers at work are having problems. We're using little HP work computers. The older ones (about 2-3 years old) are having problems loading our user profiles. We log into the newer PCs with no problems. We're recieving this error: 'Profile cannot be loaded'.
Running WIN XP SP2.
Any idea on how to resolve this?
Do you think that using an XP recovery disk will fix the problems?

may also want to check the event log for a more detailed explanation of what error is actually occuring. As follows:
go to start > run > eventvwr.msc. That will open an explorer like window with applications, security, and system in the left pane. Click on system and see if there are any exclamation points near to when it last froze; if so, double click on the item in the right pane, click on the two pieces of paper to copy it to your clipboard, and then come back here and paste the results. Then do the same for the applications folder; look for any exclamation marks that are near in time to when your pc is freezing.
This sort of error happens when the computer is missing the Default User directory in Documents and Settings.
If you're able to log onto the computer (or even connect to the C$ share from another computer), check to make sure the folder exists. If not, create it - it can remain empty.
