My son is having problems with his computer and I can't remember for the life of me how to get to the C/: on his computer to reinstall windows xp. I've tried escape, enter, space bar, "D", F8 but nothing seems to work. Could someone please come to my aid and give my memory a jog as how to get to the C/: to reformat the harddrive on his Hewlett Packard computer.

To get into the recovery cousel on a HP with Windows XP, press F11 after the POST is completed (right at first). Or you can use the XP Install disk. Insert the disk in the drive and turn the computer off and on again, press any key to boot from the CD-ROM when it says.
