Default Chkdsk or checkdisk

In XP what's the difference in running chkdsk whatever: /f and doing it from drive properties box? Also where are the chkdsk.log files in XP?

Number 2. In windows explorer under my documents I have 1 folder, I moved the rest. This folder is My albums, which has a sub-folder named emergency. Which has 24 folders, like brushies, plattes, mask and etc. Like a photo program. All folders are empty. WHblank? Is this, perhaps left over from when I started to install Picture it or something by MS? Thanks bb

1) ChkDsk from the command line is supposedly more powerful.
You could use the search function to look for (dot)chk files to find the logs.Disk cleanup might remove older ones though.

I would guess that the empty folders are from an old install --you could use the free registry cleaner in my sig to clean up old stuff-- it's default settings are very safe... use it to search for "unecessary files" --it will probably run for a while-- if you've never used one. There will be alot of accumulated junk.

Thanks. I've run jvtools cleaner and it's still there. Think I'll reinstall Picture it and see what gives. Tnxs. bb
