Windows XP/2000 - [Pending]windows explorer crashing posted in the Operating Systems forums; i have installed a second hard drive on my computer but when i transfer a folder from my old hard drive onto it and open it up windows explorer crashes ...

Default [Pending]windows explorer crashing

i have installed a second hard drive on my computer but when i transfer a folder from my old hard drive onto it and open it up windows explorer crashes and it has to close down .
is there something i have to do to get it to work with the new hard drive ?

Thats funny, as long it is set as slave and you can view the contents; it should work fine. You might have a missing or corrupt system file causing this. Insert your Windows disk into the cd rom drive and go to start > run and type in sfc /scannow. It will scan your computer for corrupt or missing windows files and fix them.

problem is i have lost the system disk that was supplied with the computer is there any other way i can see whats wrong ?

Ok well, still do the sfc /scannow, and see if it finds anything. Write everything it finds wrong down and post it on here and we will try to find the files to replace them.

well i ran the program you said . is there a log that it writes to .because nothing came up

ok i ran sfc /scannow and there is nothing wrong anything else i can do ?
