Default The Maximum memory ammount Windows XP SP2 can support?

I know this may be a bit of a 'noob' question, but I have been trying to check online how much memory Windows XP can fully support. But so far I am getting conflicting reports. One source said that XP can support up to only 2 gigs of RAM, another source said up to 3 gigs, while another source said 4 Gigs. Recently I upgraded my PC and placed in 2 Gigs of Memory, but am thinking of putting in more. I was wondering, what is the "actual" maximum memory ammount that Windows XP (service Pack 2) can support?

Welcome to PCHF!

This isn't a noob question at all. Windows XP SP2 can support up to a maximum of 4GBs of RAM.

Hope this helps,
Adam

Thanks, guys. In that case, I think I'll buy another 2 Gigs of memory. Gotta be prepared for Unreal Tech engine 3.

T-6000, I'm not sure if you know this already or not, but your PC's motherboard might not support up to 4GB even if your version of Windows XP does. Have you checked to make sure your PC's hardware is not limited ot less than 4?

Oops, I think there was a slight overview on my part when I first posted this. Back at the Epic Games Forums, someone told me that XP can support up to 4 Gigs of memory, but only the 64 bit version and I only have the 32 bit version. They also told me that the 32 bit version of XP can support up to 3 Gigs of memory. Can I confirm this with you guys here?

Oh, and Rodents210. The new Motherboard I have supports up to 4 Gigs of DDR2 800 RAM or 8 Gigs of DDR2 667 RAM.
