Default Disable access to "Disk Cleanup" (cleanmgr.exe)

Is there a way to disable the user's access to the disk cleanup utility in windows xp. I have a user that seems to be using this to remove any kind of temporary internet files as well as history from his computer. Is it possible to turn this off in group policy?

I have found out if you try to rename the file "cleanmgr.exe" in the system32 directory, another is just created.

I have moved the shortcut from the 'All Users' profile so they will not be able to run it that way.

Unfortunately, it seems like they could still use this utility via command prompt (run) or even going into their local disk properties and clicking on the button there (disk cleanup) under the general tab.

Thank you,

Welcome to PCHF!

Yes, just go to the program, right click on it and click Properties. Click the Security tab and you can enable it for different levels and disable it for others.

Good luck,
Adam
