Default Mic Hiss

Hi,

I have my mic on a 20db boost you can do that in the volume control panel if I boost then I get a really bad hissing in the background if I take the boost of it goes but not completely I cant seem to get rid of this hiss apart from muting the mic then it goes but It seems to me that I can actually hear the PC because if I had the hiss on and scroll up and down a page as I go up and down I get this high frequency pitch hiss or when im playing a game all of a sudden it freezes for a second the hissing stops then the game comes back hiss all the time but my pc doesnt freeze alot in game just every so often it will freeze for a second also when I am loading up a software I can hear like hissing all different frequencies and then once loaded it stops and goes back to same frequency hiss

This is odd and no one can seem to help it seems like I can hear my PC any suggestions would be great because I want to boost my mic up another 40db in my sound card cp but if I do the hiss gets louder

Thanks

Welcome to PCHF!

That happens no matter what, its because you dont have a super-high grade mic and a super-high grade sound card. Even on my regular microphone, I use to play in a band and it is almost impossible to get rid of that, it is due to interferance in the air and your mic cords casing. You can try to get rid of it a little by making sure there is no dust anywhere on the mic jack. You can get more info about this and other things with sound cards here: Soundcard tips.

Good luck,
Adam
