reinstalling xp
ok here is the deal: i need to reinstall my xp for a clean install, but it wont let me. my dad borrowed a cd from a friend at work becuase i cudnt find my os cd, i have installed xp on my computer before but this time it said it wouldnt install because i was trying to install an older version of xp. i really dont care. than it said boot on startup if i wanted too, and i did, but it said enter your windows nt cd if you are eligable, i dont have one, so it exited the setup, how can i install it? i know probrably most of you will say dont do it it is not necessary, but i need to reinstall it because my computer is screwed up.

Was the install disc that you got from another brand of computer? for example I have a compaq PC and tried to reinstall XP with a dell cd and it didn't work. Could that be your problem?

no its cuz i think the cd is a sp1 cd

Sounds like thats an upgrade CD, you will need a full retail version.

actually maybe not because it has full i386 folder on it so why wud an upgrade cd have that

AFAIK the upgrade will still have the full i386 folder.
