Thank you . I see what you mean now.
I can not find what your need based on the NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:282.
nomenclature.

Would please use this link - What's inside your PC and dowload and run the free Audit.

It will identify your CD drive. Please copy and paste the nomenclature here. It might help me find what you need.

According to this site -
NEC 282 driver - NEC CDROM Drivers - NEC_IDE.SYS
the driver that was provided NEC_IDE.SYS was for a DOS application.

The best I can determine from my research is that Microsoft has incorporated the NEC CD-ROM drivers in their Installation CD as of the Windows 95 version. According to this URL - CD ROM "For Win95/98/NT, you do not need specific drivers since Microsoft provides valid ATAPI drivers for ATAPI drives directly in these operating systems. These drivers work fine. "

If you can, suggest you follow the precious procedure, but instead of using the downloaded "DOS" driver, insert your Windows 2000 Installation CD (assuming it on a CD) into the CD drive and direct the Device Manager installation process toward the Installation CD.

Good Luck...

Give it a try...

If your CD Drive was attached when you initially installed Windows, then it should read the CD. At least I hope so, because I haven't been able to find an online source for the driver yet.

This is a different one, I had this same problem before with the CD-ROM drive I originally had. and switched it out for this one and this one worked for a while then just stopped. so if I put the old one back and then tried to search for the drivers on the 2k cd it might work?
