Howdy Norris...

Try this..Right CLick Start..Click properties..Then go to advanced..Under "my COmputer" CLick show as a menu.. Then Go back to start untick "show on the desktop" see if it goes away.. If not let me know if you have hijackthis, this is a program we can use to delete this icon on reboot.

Hi, try this application DelinvFile - Utility for Deleting Invalid Files and Folders
Just looked it up on google and it sounds like it just might work for you

Is that a GT390? yum..

EDIT: If cowburn's solution doesn't work.

Hmm, what's even more confusing is it doesn't have an Icon, did it ever have a specific icon?

I have a theory, during the repair install something went wrong and one of the 'core' windows icons from before got messed up.

This is looking like a registry hack I think, if you're not comfortable with this tell me and I will create a video outlining exactly what you have to do.
  1. Click start > Run
  2. Type regedit and hit enter
  3. Expand (click the +) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  4. Scroll to and expand SOFTWARE
  5. Expand Microsoft
  6. Expand Windows
  7. Expand CurrentVersion
  8. Expand Explorer
  9. Expand Desktop
  10. Right click namespace and click Export and save it
  11. Keep regedit open
  12. Open the resulting .reg file with notepad and paste the results in a post
We'll get there eventually I hope

Thats a descent program. But HJT will take care of it..

Just download hjt from my sig (prework)

Open it up, click "open Misc tools"

Click "delete file on Reboot"

Have it aim towrds that icon, and reboot..It should be gone..
