Thanks bugsey
was driving home from work when this question was asked

un19 - yes, a slow format is better...it gets "deeper" into the disk..whereas a "quick format" just formats off the surfac.

okay so its installed and running. workin! i know why tooo. NEVER LEAVE ANTIVIRUS DISK IN ON REBOOT.. IT IS A BOOTABLE DISK. i have been told by my technician that because its a bottable disk it checks for HDD viruses, and ultimately deletes all the important files on the computer, which is why the bearch wouldnt load past windows screen.....
we learn somthing new everyday rite... i wanna put up a posting about this experience.. where should i do it? just as an informaive reformatt saver...

Do i install SP2 from CD before doing updates?

Aaahahaha absolutely gold
never would have picked that up

Alrighty...As an informative post, I'd say just under the Anti-virus thread
And SP2...yes
SP2 will consist of most online updates, so install that first, then proceed with the other updates
