Default XP won't install on new PC

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me, every time I try and install XP on my new pc it start copying files and every time it gets to 11% driver.cab it will not copy them, I have now tried three different hard drives, four DVD/CD drives and three XP install discs, and every time it's the same problem. Could it be some setting in BIOS or something to do with the motherboard as these drives and discs install XP fine on other computers. The motherboard is a WinFast 6100M2MA and the processor is an AMD Athlon 64 4600+, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi ak_99.

Welcome to PCHelpForum.

If your BIOS has virus protection, try disabling it before installing XP, if that works then make sure you re-enable it once the installation is complete and before you're connected to the internet.

If you are getting a "cannot copy xx file" and have an option to retry or skip, you might also be able to skip the file and download the file manually. If you are given the option, make sure you write down the file name and then, when you can connect to the net, you may be able to simply type the filename into a google search and hopefully be able to download the file with instructions, on where to place it. A lot of the files copied from the CD during the initial phase of installation aren't necessarily required for XP to function so it's worth a shot.
