Yeah, also, if you installed iTunes onto a different HDD than you keep your library on, it could cause an issue. Then iTunes has to deal with 3 different HDDs at the same time and that certainly could pose an issue.

Also, it could be a hiccup on the download or installation, where something was off (even by a few bytes, since there can be a big difference that way. The difference between Trillian Basic and Trillian Pro is 2 bytes). I would redownload and reinstall iTunes... but knowing you, you've either done it already or never thought of it.

Totally agree, good thinking there Rodents.

Thanks, MM.

Also, if the drive letter of your library drive just changed recently, the path to the library will have slightly changed and could throw off the location iTunes has stored for it. The names of the songs and stuff would still be cached in the app but when syncing to your Pod it will come up with an error. It might not crash Windows but therein comes the issue of installing iTunes on a different drive from your library which could bring up the read/write error.

Just theorizing, though. It seems to make sense as I'm writing it, but if it doesn't just know I'll come back later, read my post again, and realize that fact. xD

Wow, Rodents, I'm surprised you didn't figure this out already. Here's some facts:
1. I keep iTunes on my C:\ drive, which is NTFS
2. Both my hard drives are NTFS
3. The iPod is FAT

So I guess that would leave us with that iTunes was trying to write to the iPod hard drive when it disconnected the drive and then continued to try and write to the non-existant drive. iTunes DID come up with an error, which said something of the sort, but still went on trying. Windows, having had enough of this, just showed the BSOD.

Don'tcha just love my crazy theories?

BTW: THE iPod has a real hard drive in it. The nano doesn't, it uses flash memory (like you said).

Yes, although I just had another BSOD (not related to iTunes). My computer seems to be prone to these kinds of things. I'm pretty sure what caused it this time, though. The iPod/iTunes things seems to be working fine now, though. Thanks.
