Ye the sfc/ scannow tool took around 10mins to load through, then nothing came around from that. I have found the Vaio recovery utility, and the restore function. If i was to use this sony restore function, what would happen to my documents, music, pictures and much more?? Would they all be lost?

So is this the only appraoch to getting rid of the RUNDLL Error? Could you please explain for me, what the RUNDLL error exactly is? Is it a serious issue or something that can be coped with.

Thanks for your help so far, really appreciated.

Ok I've missed a couple questions in the thread and want to catch up on them.

The prework link u suggest how can i see this?
In my signature at the bottom of each post you should be able to click on the section that says ///Prework\\\ and it should bring you right to the page.

. If i was to use this sony restore function, what would happen to my documents, music, pictures and much more?? Would they all be lost?
If they are on the same partition as Windows, yes. I reccomend burning anything that is irreplaceable onto a CD or DVD before running the Vaio Recovery tool.

So is this the only appraoch to getting rid of the RUNDLL Error? Could you please explain for me, what the RUNDLL error exactly is? Is it a serious issue or something that can be coped with.
As of yet I can't determine that. The specific DLL file that is referenced in the post above yields no results in a Google search. Next time that error happens can you post a screenshot?

How to do so:

1. When the error message pops up simply hit "Print Screen"
2. Right Click on your desktop and seect New > Bitmap Image
3. Right click your new Bitmap file and select Edit.
4. Press CTRL + V
5. If possible try to select only the error window and select cut (the selected portion of the image should disappear.
6. Close the bitmap image without saving, repeat steps 3 and 4
7. Save the resulting image as a JPEG (under file types or simply type Error.jpg in file name.
8. Post as an attachment or use the standard method to post the pic directly into your reply.

With that, I should be able to do some homework on the error itself.

Also I recommend running through the prework instructions.

Thanks for your reply double_a_ron.

Have some positive news and some not so. The Rundll error message i was recieving when logging on, hasnt appeared the last 3/4 times i logged onto my laptop. Think i might have fixed this through a 'Registry Fix' programme.

On the downside, i still have 'no audio device' have to keep installing the realtek driver & codecs for it to work. I also recieve the message ' Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' on some occasions when logging on. My latest issue is my internet has slowed down slightly, and i seem to be recieving numerous popups. These i imagine are all linked to some sort of infection etc.

I will run through your prework like you asked and then re-post from there. Hope you will be able to help me further.

Cheers

Following the process stated in your Prework. Will post log information later this evening when all is complete.

Thanks again for your help so far, just hope you are able to find something from log reports.

Alrighty then. Just for future reference, Please try to avoid double posting. If you are the last to post in the thread, simply use the Edit button to add to your last post, it helps keep the forums neat. No biggie then.

Also, Please save the log files as text files and attach them to the post rather than posting them copy/paste style.

Ok, so far I've seen CoolWebSearch and Winad.

The only thing I can really recommend right now is that, unless you really like it and want it, I'd uninstall the Google Toolbar. Not because it's bad per say but a little redundant. It's up to you. I'm going to PM some of our security staff and have them take a look at your logs.
