If you never recieved a recovery disk. Is there a recovery partition perhaps.

If so, your start menu should have an entry for Sony Recovery or something to that ilk.

Try Clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools

See if there's something there.

Otherwise, try to contact sony with the model number of your pc and see if you can get a recovery disk. Manufacturers will usually send one on request...and quite frankly i think they should just send a copy of Windows since you, in fact, did pay for a licence and should be entitled to one.

In the meantime, try running sfc /scannow without the disk

if asked for a path try c:\windows\system32\driver cache

Mine is in the programs under access IBM so maybe you will have a heading called Access Sony.

I also agree that a CD should be sent, my IBM's dont have a disc, but I know where they are on the system.

double_a_ron.

Under the system tools tab i have:
Character Map
Disk Cleanup
Disk Defragmenter
Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
Scheduled tasks
Security Center
System Information
System Restore

What do you suggest from here?

You say try running sfc /scannow without the disk. What do you mean by this? Go to start run then type 'sfc'? Ive jus attempted this an a black box flashes up rapidly then dissapears.

Any ideas what you think is going on guys?

cheers for your help so far. Much appreciated
