Ok, first off, I unhooked the bad drive. I then did Bootcfg /scan and it found 1 Windows installation. " The results are stored statically for this session. If the disk config. changes during this session, in order to get an updated scan, you must first reboot the machine and then rescan the disks".
I then tried Bootcfg /rebuild. It asked me if I wanted to add installation to boot list. I put YES. Now it wants me to Enter Load Identifier. Whats that??

Enter Load Identifier: (Custom description for an operating system loading from the Boot menu)
Enter Operating System Load Options: (that is: /fastdetect)
This process adds a new entry in the Boot menu. When you add an installation, the bootcfg command also makes the installation the default operating system boot entry.

I'm on thin ice here-- but I believe it's what you want i.e. Computer Name? as if you were in the initial setup.

Don't worry bout drive letter... we can change that after it boots

Well, I did everything and then rebooted. It goes as far as the light blue screen that you get when it's loading or saving your settings and shutting down Windows. It will not go any farther.

or just the blue screen?

Go Back through the scan phase/get setup in Console
When you see "Enter Load Identifier"
Enter your OS name ... Microsoft Windows XP Home

try reboot again -- my bad --sorry
