Yeah, the first one!! I couldn't believe the price on the second one!! I guess some people live for the gaming, they would have to, because after spending that much money on a system you wouldn't have enough money to live on!!
If I can get this system going, it will be tame, yet powerful enough for what I do. My wife is getting a little frustrated with me, wondering how much more money I'm gonna sink into this thing. I just need to get the OS on, because without that, it's nothing but a paper weight.

Exactly-- but if the PSU is no good you'll tear your hair out and it will never run right. The PSU is like the foundation of a house-- you can't build a great house on a foudation that is crooked.
Especially since once you DO get it running the tendency for most is to add stuff--or game-- and then the power-supply just completely fries--maybe taking the RAM or the mobo or both with it.
That's the bigger issue here-- if the foundation of your system crumbles-- other stuff can go down with it.
The PSU's importance is the most overlooked by people building for the first time. You get all that other fancy gear... and then it goes poof because the PSU goes-- and you will remember-- and it's no fun.

and then you really have a doorstop

I haven't even turned the system back on since I did the memtest. Might be a short bit till I can get the PSU, so I will just leave it alone till then. I don't want to take any chances.
Hopefully that will be the last thing I will have to buy for awhile! I've got a little more in this than I originally wanted to spend. But, that happens when you're having fun!!

I think it will solve the problems since memtest ran for a day-- it's not the motherboard or the RAM... and the PSU we are looking at has even more "rated power"-- 535 W as opposed to the 450 W for the stocker-- and I believe that you will agree that there are "ratings" and there are ratings.
IMHO 'the market' does a lousy job of regulating some things-- this is one of them. There are some really good makers out there--and there is a lot of JUNK. The trouble is people figure that a PSU is a PSU... when nothing could be further from the truth. It's not a "glamorous" part... like say the hottest video-cards or processors.
There really ought to be a central authority for computer parts-- like Underwriters Labs for other stuff. People should not have to fear dealing with immediate failure of brand-new stuff. It is common with stocker PSU's that they have issues.

Boy, that's the truth!! Well, you buy a kit like I did, and you end up ripping stuff out and replacing it. I guess thats the thing, you should buy all your components seperately, that way you know what you have.
You would think that Tiger would have checked this out before they advertised it. Then they would have known the problems that are occuring.

Actually,, as I said earlier-- at a deep discount-- it's still a deal.
I have built 3 PC's for friends with TD kits-- no problems.
Are they perfect? No... but you basically got a PC for $400 in hardware costs.
A lot of "thrifty" folks do this kind of stuff-- I will usually plan on replacing a stock PSU from the getgo.Just from experience.
Or try to find one with acceptable specs without a PSU--order it separately from a maker I know/trust.

you can still buy separate components (carefully-- research costs nothing) and get great deals from places like Pricewatch-- you can even choose a component you want and have the site email you when the price drops to what you want to pay-- hence the Name. You must really watch the purchase site ratings on there, though. There are some sites not worth dealing with.
There is another I use-- called Reseller Ratings that is member-driven/
free membership.

Compare Prices and Read Customer Reviews at ResellerRatings.com

Though as I also said before-- the complaints are posted more than the good ratings-- it's human nature-- when you're indignant/feel cheated . It can really help evaluate the real losers though-- if you see a bad rating here--don't deal with that site.

TD is not well-rated on reseller-- but I've had great service.
Just bought a monitor for a friend-- his was quitting and he did not have the money --$70.00 for a refurb IBM 17" CRT with free shipping/one year warranty. It was here in 3 days. How can you beat that? He needs his PC-- going to college nights.

I've done alot of business through Tiger, and I have NEVER had a problem. But, this is my first build (to this extent anyway), and I guess I have alot to learn .
No, I don't blameTiger for this. I just get somewhat frustrated sometimes.

I bought 2 19" LCD's from Tiger, couldn't be happier. I still buy 90% of my PC items from them. Excellent service and ship speeds. Thumbs up!!
