Default [Answered] Random Restarts

I'm having some trouble with my computer because its just restarting itself randomly, the problem started after i re-formatted my computer not too long ago, at first the computer couldnt even boot up all the way without restarting, but once that problem solved itself, my computer is having this new problem, so far it's only been happening when i've been in the middle of playing a video game and listening to music. The only thing i could think to do is update my graphics driver but that didnt seem to do it. Any help on the matter would be very appreciated.Thankyou.

Hi evan, and welcome to pchf....sounds like an overheating issue, but let's check a few things first.....go to start > run > eventvwr.msc. That will open an explorer like window with applications, security, and system in the left pane. Click on system and see if there are any exclamation points near to when it last froze; if so, double click on the item in the right pane, click on the two pieces of paper to copy it to your clipboard, and then come back here and paste the results. Then do the same for the applications folder; look for any exclamation marks that are near in time to when your pc is shutting down.

also, when it reboots, is it giving a blue screen?

thanks,

v

try downloading speedfan from http://www.almico.com/speedfan432.exe and installing it; then post the screen shots. To make a screen shot, just make that your active window, then hit alt-prtscn; open paint, right click, paste, et voila, done.

any questions, let me know.....we'll get it noodled out in no time.

Thanks,

v
