not really. You can have your page file anywhere, it still won't be as fast as
ram, as you are spraying
ram with electronic bits, so it moves at the speed of electricity. The page file resides on your hd, so you are relegated to the speed of the hd, which is both further away from the processor AND slower than
ram, so you are stuck either way.
I've always had my pf set at 1.5 min, 2.0 max, no problems. However, some people at work are throwing around 4-6 gig .pdf seismic drawings in 3d; they can suck down 3 gigs of high-grade
ram in zero flat. The gent I mentioned, he's got a 6 gig page file, and is looking for some way to speed it up; there simply IS no way. Once we (as a company) adopt the 64 bit os, then yes, he will have a LOT more
ram to play with, but you can allocate 200 gigs for your page file, and you are still limited by the physical speed of the hard drive.
