Default svchost.exe eating memory alot! ?

Hello guys/ladies.

for a while now ive been having shed loads of trouble (See my threads, hopefully you can link all this to one problem) but anyway ive been running CCleaner And Search and Destroy and Regseeker And Memtest to speed my pc up alittle and to solve some of my problems if possible.

But yeah now since i used Memtest for the first time it wouldnt boot, it would get as far as going blue for sign in and turn off but now it seemed fine until today it just turned off again (This is in the space of week)

But to the problem at hand. i looked at what was running in task manager and i noticed that svchost.exe was running at 255,000 k ???????

ill tell you something ive had my pc for 2 years maybe, and ive had alot of trouble and youll know this from my threads but i wish i could just send it back and get replacement

Hey Stonerbear,

Don't be sad pookey, I think it may be time to do a reinstall. You are right, you have had all kinds of trouble, and it's possible that the registry is just too damaged to repair.

On top of everything else, look at how much you have learned about keeping your PC clean. We just need to give you a clean slate to start with. That way, you know that you have done everything right from the beginning.

Memtest, should be giving you an answer as to whether you have damaged sections on your RAM. It shouldn't be running all of the time.

One of the reasons we had you run Memtest, was to see if bad sectors were to blame for your slowdowns. We had determined that malware was no longer to blame, and were making sure that the issues were not hardware related.

I would like to see you backup all of your important files, wipe the PC, and give it a fresh install.

Let us know how you feel about that, and we'll walk you through the process.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Cool Yeh thanks LadyGreen.

ill do that. my friend was also telling me to use firefox xp myths to keep my pc running well from the start, but i never did it. My friend jon was also telling me about a Program to use that would Cut out alot of XP Pros un-needed stuff? know of anything like that?

Also the thing is on one of my threads i talk about my friends ******* edit: Family site, SB, LGW my pc. and since i had to reinstall ive ran into a problem after another such as CS:S etc.

but before this point i had no problems and i only had Mcafee keeping my pc alittle clean. And that was a month into having my pc and i didnt get anything on my pc that made any significant difference. But now.... you know the rest.

ive also said that once i had used memtest my pc decided to start shutting down on its own, only sometimes does this happen. :S

And now ive cleared my 16.GB partition with KillDisk and went to put my OS back on (XP PRO) and the cd starts and runs the way it should starting with the blue screen with resources etc at the bottom of the screen, and it gets to a point everytime where it says Setup is starting windows and then it says loading keyboard layout library and then PC turns off.

But if i run Memtest on bootup it runs the cd fine and works through all it neds to do. Also is there anthing specific i should do running this rather then letting it do the Job it starts.

This Pc has already started to test my god **** patience.

I WANT A NEW ONE, and shouldnt even want a new one considering this on is 2-3 Yr's old

Hey SB,

OK, now you are confusing me. When you say that you start the PC with Memtest, are you talking about the bootable CD version? If so, let it finish untill it tells you what it has found. It should finish with a report that gives you information about good and bad sectors in each of your RAM sticks.

When you used KillDisk, did you completely remove all of the partitions, recreate a full partition, and then allow XP to reformat?

Please post back with the memtest report, that will give us a better understanding of what we are dealing with here.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Well Memtest only said said there were no bad sectors no major details about that it was the free trial, and yes it was bootable CD.

And i cleared the information in my OS partition i didnt delete and remake with full HDD capacity i left my partitions the way they were
