Default [Fixed] kernel_stack_inpage_error

hi
lately my pc has been diplaying a black screen and the only reason provided to me is that there
has been a "kernel_stack_inpage_error" . i have googled a bit to try and find some reasons for the error
and basically what i've learned is that it may have something to do with bios and that a resolution may involve disabling caching and/or shadowing. also that might pc may have a virus. i don't believe the latter to be true but while running my virus scanner( http://www.avast.com ) my pc did go back to the black screen.
also i forgot to mention that i recently installed and uninstaled the vista transformation pack.
it was pretty to look at but because of my pc being rather limited in resousces i believe it was slowing it down.
during insallation it had to change some system setting configurations.. anyway
to make a long story short i never seen this black error page untill i tried this software out.
my os is XP home edition and i have 192MB ram.
i will appreciate any suggestions to a solution.

read this:
Troubleshooting "Stop 0x00000077" or "KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR"

and let us know if that pertains to your situation.....

btw, xp will barely run on 192 mb ram, and vista flat out won't, as I think you may have discovered......

thanks,

v

i know i'm rather limited on ram but believe me the pc runs very well.
should i disable or limit the amount of caching?

okay, let's try this; go to start > run > eventvwr.msc, that will open an explorer like window with applications, security , and system on the left hand pane. Click on 'system', find an red exclamation point in the right hand side, double click it, and if it's the one for the stack error, click on the two pieces of paper on the right, which will copy it to your clipboard, and then come here and paste the details. That way we can see the details and go from there, see if something needs to be switched back in bios or whatnot.

thanks,

v

just for kicks, click on the 'shoot the messenger' link in my signature, follow the instructinos, and see if it happens again. It very well could, but I'm seeing a few instances of ms messenger running multiple times causing that guid......I"ll keep looking for other solutions, but if it happens after you kill the messenger, let me know.

Also, is this random, or does it happen after doing something, or has it started happening after you have added new software?

it never happened until i uninstalled the software that made my XP look like Vista
that download can be found here:
Download Vista Transformation Pack 6 Final - Vista Transformation Pack - Bring to your desktop the look of Microsoft's future operating system, Windows Vista - Softpedia
its happening less but in particular when i try to run my avast virus scanner it always goes to the black screen
