Default problems connecting to the internet

I was recently going through a refurbished laptop of mine and went into the Control Panel, deleting random spyware and other programs I thought were useless. Apparently they weren't so useless, because I think I deleted something that connected me to the internet. (stupid, stupid me)

My WLAN, Wireless Network Connection, and Local Area Connection all read "signal strength excellent" and "signal strength 100%" and "link quality 100%." I am parked right next to my router, and I even have the ethernet cord plugged in. Still no internet. When I open up my browsers they give me "you are not connected to the internet," etc.

I've tried all the usual-- going into Run:cmd:ipconfig/release:ipconfig/renew, etc. Nothing works, I just get is a message that says:

"An error occured while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection 6: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."

All the icons under LAN/High-Speed Internet in my Network Connections read "Limited or no connectivity, Firewalled." Where did this firewall come from??

Help! I have to write a paper for class in the next two days... and this is a very annoying obstacle.

Interesting....ok, stupid question time. Your LAN connection isn't disabled by any chance? Also can you ipconfig /all and see if you have been allocated an address within the routers IP range. Also, try dis-abling either one of the connections to see if the other one will work...bizarrely I have had to do this in the past.

Hmm.. well, the LAN connection seems to be fine because my Mac and another computer in the house are working fine wirelessly. I'll give the other suggestions a try...
