I've had this problem for about a week now and can't seem to fix it. Basically, the text on every icon or windows menu on my computer is scrambled and unreadable. It looks like this.






The weird thing is if I copy the text from lets say my firefox icon and paste it into a notepad, it says Mozilla Firefox rather than the scrambled letters. I've tried troubleshooting the issue with a laptop next to my pc and comparing settings, but it all looks the same. I've also done numerous virus scans, registry cleaners, spyware scans, etc etc. Even my welcome screen which has my user accounts listed has scrambled text.

I really want to fix this issue without having to reload xp. If anyone can help me it would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

First of all can you please tell me what you have scanned with? You most definitely have a malware related issue going on, and it will be necessary to track it down. Also, can you please follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, as it is sometimes how you go about determining the problem as much as what the problem is when dealing with infections. Then post the resulting three logs back here.
