Exclamation [Answered] ASP.NET; created a profile in XP?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I greatly appreciate being able to turn to people more knowledgable than myself for help. I am a rookie and know just enough to be dangerous with a PC. I have a machine (XP Pro OS) on which I have created only one user account. It is used mainly by my wife and myself. I was recently changing our password and noticed a new user account (limited), that was titled: ASP.NET. One other thing, when I start up or log off my regular account the new one doesn't show on the log in screen, only when I go to user accounts trhough the control panel. My wife claims she didn't put it there, I know I sure didn't. Does anyone know what this is and what it would be used for? Should I be concerned? Any ideas how was it created? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

have you installed the .NET framework update from Windows Updates?

it's safe to delete this account in your user control panel if you want though before you do are you running xp home or profesional edition? i am informed that deleting it after installation on xp pro can cause a problem

remember that if you disable ityou cannot use the ASP.NET-capable server that makes use of Microsoft's .NET runtime (as opposed to its own runtime). .NET compiled applications should run fine.

have a look at the link below, that should explain more for you

define:ASP.NET - Google Search

hope that helps.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate the quick reply. It just caught me off guard that it would create a user account (limited user - password protected). I've had some strange (and not so wonderful) things happen to my pc's and my network in the past so I am a little paranoid. I changed the account name and the password so I could get in there and see what was going on if necessary.
