Well, what would the main title be for the sound card. I went to the link you provided for me thanks. However i assumed it would be under "mutimedia" but no device was found under mutimedia, and i looked for the sound card as a main title (in black) and there was not one. I can tell you that i recently re-installed a clean version of windows about 2 days ago.My computer is a custom. And before i re-installed windows i had the device and driver in check is there anyway were i could retrieve this or is it lost forever. Like i said i didnt find anything under mutimedia or just in general as a Sound card. None detected on Mutimedia.

Thanks for your time

Css, you should have one or more devices appear in device manger with question marks against them before we start?

Also, the next step to find out what sound card you have it to open up your PC and find out. If it's an onboard sound card, then we need to know the make and model of that card. If it's onboard the motherboard, we will need to know the make and model of the motherboard. Do you not have the drivers on CD, even custom built machines would have the installation CD's for each customised component in the PC?

Hi css,

It's normally written somewhere on the motherboard. The ASUS boards have it in big writing across the middle of the board, whilst may have it on the edge. There are some that don't have it at all (I hope this is not the case).
