Default Desktop Icon Error

When I RIGHT click on a desktop icon, the response is a dialog box wanting to send a report of an error to Microsoft. I did this several times, but there was no response nor have I been able to find a cure in the Knowledge Base. After the dialog box appears, the system locks up and requires rebooting. This is a troublesome problem because of the frequent need to right click on the icons. I would be grateful for your help.

Bill, the first thing I would recommend is this: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...1-sfc-exe.html

Hengis... thanks for the suggestion, but I've updated my display driver; run SFC a number of times... it didn't show up anything. I've also tried all the tricks I know with no luck. If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks so much for your interest.
