no, multiple profiles will not slow your pc down in the least. It's like saying if you have 4 excel sheet on your pc, will that slow your machine down.
Dunno about vista. Dunno your computer specs. You need to make sure your machine can handle vista first before switching over. Also, there are a lot of peripherals out there that don't have drivers yet for vista, so be sure to do your research. Make sure you have a LOT of ram. ![]() Thanks, v

Hi Nydavid099,
Welcome to PCHF! To be honest, 4 profiles? not really. If you have multiple users on your PC, it may be more necessary to defragment your Hard Drive more often, but that's about it. There are many things that can slow down your PC, and the amount of disk space your using isn't one of them, unless your disk is completely empty. Disk fragmentation plays a part, but it's more about how many programmes are actually running in the background and how much resources each one of them requires. Check your resources by pressing [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL], and click on the Performance tab. You will see how much memory and CPU your using from there. However Vista is another matter. Vista itself requires more resources to run, so you may notice some performance drop depending on the spec of your PC. EDIT: Hey Valis, great minds.. post at the same time?

I have always found it runs much faster if you don't use fast user switching, but rather log out any time you want to switch from one user to another. But just the fact that they exist does not slow down the pc.

Tractor is right...
if you have multiple users logged in at once - this will slow the computer down. If you have one logged on, then log off and log another on - this won't effect anything - speed wise.
