Default XP Hiberfil.sys location

Hey,

Is is possible to move this file to another partition? I have allocated only 25GB for my C: drive but I have another 4GB partition for page files and other windows stuff so I have enough space for all my huge games, and now theres this 1,5GB hibernation file in the way. Can it be moved? I googled it and people said it cant, but that was about windows 98/2000 systems so maybe its possible now with XP?

Hi,

Yes, your information is correct - the file cannot be moved, in fact, it must stay in the root of your boot drive. Do you actually use hibernation? I don't come across many users who do....
If the file is bothering you and you want to reclaim the space then you can always dis-able hibernation and that will delete the file upon a re-boot.

Ok, i guess its worth the disk space then (i use it sometimes because i have lots of windows open that I dont want to save and close, and it takes too long to start everything up in the morning if I only have 20 minutes).
