Default [Resolved] converting primary drive from fat32 to NTFS

Realizing that files larger than 4gb cant be handled by a FAT32 system. I've tried to convert my primary drive, c:, to NTFS. (I dont have any secondary virtual drives)

I've used the Command Prompt to type "convert c:/fs:ntfs" as shown on the WindowsXP site, and agreed to whatever questions that appeared. I've restarted the computer and it started the converting process, analyzing how much space is required fot the convertion, etc.
It finished the convertion and restarted the computer, but when I checked the drive' s properties it was still set on FAT32 with 5 gb gone. (my drive has 120GB, but now its total size shows 115).

why didn't the convertion work?

Thanks for your help.

thanks for your help valis however, this is the article I've used when trying to convert my file system to NTFS. as I said, on the next startup my system performed the convertion ( I monitored the process) but when windows finished loading, I checked my drive's properties and it was (and still) set on FAT32.

Hi, do you have Admin permissions? Also, make sure you carry out a defrag and chkdsk /f before attempting the conversion.
