Default [Answered] Need 25 digit key

My PC met it's unfortunate passing some time ago so I transferred the HD to a PC I got from work, since XP detected a new system it needs to be reactivated, the only thing is it needs a new product key, I used "KeyFinder" to get the old one but it no longer works, it says I've exceeded the amount of times I can reactivate with that key and I need a new one, I have XP Professional SP2, can someone help me out?

What is Keyfinder?

We can't give you product keys for XP, it is illegal and we wouldn't have them anyway. If you are having problems activating give Microsoft a call - they normally sort it out quite well.

Thanks,

Chris

Exactly what upgrader said. XP takes a snapshot (of sorts) of the machine it's on, and and major changes, such as a chipset or motherboard, and xp will look until you enter your key OR call MS. I've had to do this probably 30 times, they are always very accomodating, just explain to them that you moved your hd from one case to the next, and they'll hook you up.

And yes, keycrackers are illegal here.

Oh okay, sorry about that. Thanks for the advice. Keyfinder is a program that tells you the product key your version of Windows was activated with.
