this isnt for me its for a mate whos computer im on as we speak, but basically his comp is the slowest thing ive ever come across, so ill do the malware checks, but also as these require a few restarts, the only way to get his computer to turn on is by using system restore (pressing F10 on start up) which takes about 30-40 minutes each time.

any help would be much appreciated!!!

many thanks

Hi Dave,

I'm not quite sure what you mean. What happens if you switch the PC on normally, and don't press F10, does it freeze, reboot, any error messages?

At what point does it restart (what is the last thing you see)? Do you see a blue screen of death?

do you have the install disks? You can then boot into recovery console and run chkdsk /r, which should enable you to at least get to safe mode, then we can begin fixing it......but I'd listen to the monkey in these matters, as he is very well schooled at this.....

marking as answered. If the matter still needs to be addressed, please post in this thread, and I will be more than happy to attend to it.

thanks,
