Windows XP/2000 - Is there a way to make PCs turn on after a power outage? posted in the Operating Systems forums; If theres a power outage is there a way for ATX style machines to keep trying to turn back on untill the power comes back? Thank YOu...

If theres a power outage is there a way for ATX style machines to keep trying to turn back on untill the power comes back?

Without it being hooked up to a UPS in a word NO.

Wolfey is correct ward.

Without a power generator or UPS (uninteruptable power source) then there is no way for a computer to come back online without you pushing the button after a power out.

Even then, a UPS is only used as a safe shutdown tool...so if there is a power out, the UPS will start beeping and shut the computer down safely - many have the software to turn back on. You'll find UPS's in most server rooms around the world.

If the pc is connected to a router or modem through the network card you could see if wake on lan setting works depending on the pc you can set them to wake on ring if you have a dial up modem to. Did that help
