Default outlook express

i am running outlook express, and last week my pc crashed (believed to be ram failure).
now when i open OE i can recive emails, see who sent them, and title etc but cannot read the actual email as it shows no text in the main window, looking at older emails that i have read in the passed i have the same problem. I have ried re setting accounts and this has not worked.
is there any solution to this?

HI adreval,

this is a strange one to be sure.
just out of curiosity...can you download Thunderbird and see if you have the same issues?

tough one as its not actually my personal pc. would this be any good?
"Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs, Internet Explorer,as there should be a repair or reinstall option"
prefer to repair than actual re install as dont want to lose emails.

ok an update.

i tried to test send email, which came through, but wen put pointer over it became an hour glass, and the message not downloaded...odd

anyway, i then set up outlook via office, test email and this worked fine. so its actual outlook express that has the problem.
but on top of that i also found that norton internet security was installed and running, but when open to scan or set up its just a blank window, so cant scan or configure, now wondering if the two are related in some way. i uninstalled and reinstalled norton but same out come, though it is due to expire 25th of march it should still have all functions running..

thoughts welcomed

Not your personal pc? work computer? most work environments use outlook as the default program and connect to a local exchange server. well...depending on the size actually.

It could actually be norton that is stopping outlook express - it is a horrible horrible program like that...try uninstalling it completely (if you have the cd) and try then..if emails come through...bingo - we have foudn the cause.

Sometimes norton will just decide to think "oh i'm unsecure right NOW" and lock down..i've seen it many many times at work, and uninstalling norton was the only way to fix it And it used to be a good program...about 5 years ago

Yup...we recommend Trend OfficeScan at work - best AV suite i've found for ease of use and virus detection.
