Question [Fixed] What do you do when this happens??

How do you take applications off that you installed on there but now just uninstalling it won't do the trick. You could still see it in the start menu and and at the bottom left corner; this after I did an uninstall.

How did you uninstall?

You should uninstall by going to Control Panel (start Menu) then Add/remove programs.

Thats how I normally do it but this program didn't take off the on the bottom and in the program files. It's unistalled but the icon is still there like its attached to to constantly remind you to use their product or something.

what application is it? Have you tried unlocker? It is a handy little app to have around, and can be found at majorgeeks.com. But the important question is, what is the app? You don't want to uninstall something necessary.

thanks,

v

Hi marioc,

Please understand that we are a free based forum and as such we can only get on the forum when time permits.

Does this happen for all programs? or just some?

Alot of programmers don't do the uninstall part correctly - just a bit of a stab at you for not using the software anymore. You can safely right click on the item in the Start Menu and select "Delete"

The name of the application is WinVNC or just VNC. I installed it cuz I wanted the option to monitor my computers while I'm away from home or to monitor my relatives computer. But when I didn't want to use the application, I just uninstalled from the add and remove programs; it was just confusing me. But when I completed the uninstall it didn't take it off from the lower right hand corner of the start menu. So now I'm wondering how to take it off. I can't right click it and delete it, so now you see what I'm talking about.
