hi

I'm a bit of a novice in this area , i'm thinking of getting this for sound recording. are acer any good or are they a bit poo?

I'm gone to get it with xp though as i've read vista's not quite there yet for sound recording and it has quite a few compatibility issues with certain software.

Well it has onboard sound so if your going for high-middle sound recording then you will want to get a PCI sound card which is better.

Other than that it is pretty good.

it isnt acer which you should really be lookin out for it will be the components which are in the computer acer in this instince use components from other people but jus put it into there build! acer are fairly good but not something i would spend money on as a duel processor. my honest opiniun is that is the low end of amd so choose your choice. for sound recording i woudl recommend a 2gb atleast to reach full potential without choppy ness and using without agro jus check upgrade ability wether there 2 slots for ram or jus the 1?

True. You might want to find one with an Intel Core2Duo instead - will give better performance than that AMD Dual Core.
