Default [Pending] Bass.exe system error

My home PC is getting an error message and rebooting every time I OK it. The message involves Bass.exe and says invalid parameters have been passed to a process.

I have tried booting in safe mode and resotring to the last known good boot, but the message comes up anyway.

From what I've found, bass.exe is a game related process, but the name is sometimes used as spyware to fool people. I think it's the former, because we installed THQ's new "Supreme Commander" on Wednesday.

I think I can repair or remove the process if I can boot the PC.

I am runninig XP SP2 on a Dell Dimension 8400 3.6 MHZ P4 with 2 GB RAM, NVidia GE Forece 7950 video card.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

Two things...firstly, open up Start > run > msconfig > startup tab and see if the program is listed in there. If it is then un-check it and re-boot. Secondly, complete the Pre-Work (link below) and post the resulting logs back here for analysis.
