I have a "General" question regarding errors.

When ever you get an error on winXP it gives you a load of numbers (code).
is there any way to work out what error goes with what code?
eg xxx stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbf80d405, 0xf8896c08, ox00000000) think thats right,
anyway i did a search and nothin came up, so proceeded to work on the pc, after removal of a ram i got past this error, so my assumption was that this code must be for ram fault.

is there a web site with the list of error codes and the problem?

yep from what i remember, i did a google search and it only threw up one link, and that wasnt even the correct code error. Talking to a mate he believes that the codes need to be deciphered, if this is correct then where would you get the software to do this.
i find it odd if this is the case, to me it seems no different to having a diagnostic test on your car, u plucg ya black box up to pc, it reads the errors, gives you the codes and in a book or on a pc youd have the codes with the problematic fault, simple lol
