Default Problem installing dvd games

So I have a DVD-RW drive... yet it only plays cds... and I keep getting some message about UFD when I put in Flight Simulator X... I have installed the game before on this computer... what could the problem be?

I put the disc in only to notice that it switched from being a dvd+rw drive to a cd drive... yet still says that theres a dvd in there, could i possibly have a wrong driver installed?

Unlikely, Windows handles DVD/CD drivers really well.

Try running Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow
You'll need your windows cd.

Since I have to reinstall everything I tried installing the sims 2, since none of the discs are dvds... and it works perfectly, does this mean i need a new dvd rom drive?
