Default [Resolved] Hard Drive Issues.

I had a lot of problems with my computer so i decided to reinstall windows xp. I booted from the os disc and deleted the os, then i reinstalled it on my 40 gb hard drive. Everything worked great except i have a 250 gb hard drive that all my music, pictures and videos are on and it wont recognize it. Windows shows 1 37.8 gb hard drive and then another 127 gb hard drive that is not formatted. I know all of the stuff thats on there is still there i just cant access it. And i canot afford to loose any of the data! What do i do?

Hey TO,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful team of techs here, and I feel certain that we will be able to help you find a way to access those files.

First off a couple of questions. Prior to uninstalling the OS, you said that you were having problems. Are you talking about malware or hardware problems?

Can you tell us how you have the two drives connected, and was the old harddrive connected when you installed Windows on the 40Gig?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi

I would try swapping it into a friend's computer or a second computer and see if it works there

Ok so i ended up fixing it! It was wierd because the only place i could still see the hard drive was in the system restore space calculator. It said it was monitoring all of my hard drives. But none of them would show up in my computer. Everything was fixed once i installed xp sp 2. So thanks.
