Default [Resolved] Bootup and Lagging Problem

Recently (yesterday), i started my HP Notebook completely over...
Now when I boot it up a bar appears on screen and loads for about 7 minutes and then the normal Windows XP screen loads for about another 5 minutes before i get to the welcome screen. i was wondering if there is anything that i can do to stop this.
Also, my computer lags and freezs randomly, usually when i am on the internet or updating my computer.
I have windows xp media center edition and all of my original restore cd's and software. I have 1 GB mem and 100 GB hard drive.

Hello mj,

Not much to go on there. This problem started immediately after re-installing Windows?

Does this mean you re-built or re-booted?
