Default C Drive filling up at alarming rate!

Hi
I'm hoping somebody can help me out here please.

I noticed yesterday that I only had 3GB spare on my C drive. My laptop has a 36GB hard disk with two equally sixed partitions for C and D Drives.

I therefore freed up some space by removing unused programs etc and managed to free up 5Gb or so thereby leaving me with 8Gb - plenty to play with I would have thought.

Between yesterday and today something has used in the region of 1GB, - windows explorer is showing the C drive as now only having only 7.07GB disk free space.

I haven't installed any new programs and cannot understand how I can of accumulated a gig of data in less that 24hrs.

If I check windows explorer I seem to be losing .03 of a GB every couple of hours - at this rate I'll have no hard disk left in a week or so! I have had the laptop for about 18 months so clearly this isn't normal otherwise the disk would have been full ages ago.

I have recently installed IE 7 and upgraded to the latest release of Norton Internet Security (2006 or 07?)

I have done the obvious things like run Norton Antivirus and Ad-Aware but neither found anything untoward.

Does anyone know what may be causing this or how I can find out where the data is being created to and by what program...?

Any help would be appreciated. If you need any more info let me know please. Thanks.
