Well. basically my question is i have a compaq computer and i want to reinstall my old operating system.. (Xp) but it didnt come with a restore disk or xp reinstall disk, but i was looking around and I found one for my moms computer which is a Dell computer and on the CD it says.. only for use with dell products.. basically my question is will it still work with the compaq?

no it won't work,you will need to contact compaq for a new restore/xp disk.

dang, would they just give me one.. or you have any idea about how i would go about it?

try emailing or calling cust. service.....some companies will mail it to you for free or just for shipping fee. Contact HP - HP Customer Care  just follw this link to their support page

Yeah, I had something similar expect I wanted to upgrade to XP, Ask around and see if you friends have a XP disc and just use that. thats what I did

This is the problem with these companies some of them jsut dont give you the required disks .
