Default [Fixed] Problem Deleting Files/Folders

Hello, I recently backed some directories during a system restore, and now I realize that most of the folders which were duplicated are not of any need. I have tried numerous ways to delete these unwanted directories (Through Safemode, DOS, File Renaming, & programs like moveonboot etc.). Unfortunately none of these methods were successful.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the PCHF subsero51

Can you please tell us if you're getting an error message at all?

Thanks.

Thank you for the welcome GaRHaR.

The error message is as follows:

Make sure the disc is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Try renaming the folder to something else, and then deleting it. Failing that...read below.

This is just an idea and i'm not entirely sure if it will work...(I don't use system restore at all)...

Reboot into safe mode and log on as Administrator
Goto a directory in question and right click on it. Select Properties
Select the Security tab and then click on Advanced (bottom right corner of window).
From here, select the Owner tab and select Administrator and click on the box that says Replace owner or subcontainers and objects

May take some time depending on how big the folder is...once finished - if it works, you should be able to do whatever you want to it.

If you don't see the Security tab goto Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> uncheck Simple File Sharing
