Default [Fixed] can't restart, log off, or shut down....

I finally got rid of ME and got XP and I'm already coming up with problems for the masters here to fix.

I sent a hijack file up(still waiting) and ran spyware, adware, and virus protection but every thing comes up clean.

I don't know why but going through the start menu I can't restart, shut down, or even log off. I end up having to press the power button on front of my pc to do anything. I thought when I finally got away from windows ME I would get rid of the minor problems...LOL ~that'll teach me to think with windows running~

Anyways, I was just curious if anyone knew of any little fixes to cure this problem with logging off and restarting windows

Hello Dreams.
When you try to shutdown, does anything happen, does it get to the "saving your settings" screen and stop, do you get any messages, like "ending program" ? Can you hit ctrl alt del, and see if task manager will come up, if it does, does it show anything running? Since you said you finally got rid of me, i assume this is a clean install of xp. Did it ever shut down properly after the install, or did it just start doing this? Try this and let us know...

I'm not sure what happened but the problem seems to be better for now. After I followed the instuctions from Hijack thread it worked right again.
Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I just got a new pc last week instead of trying to fix the one with ME, So I will probably be in here often while I learn XP.

Thanks,
Dreams
