Hi and welcome to PCHF

The max resolution for an external monitor should be 2048 x 1536 connected to your laptop - did you look in display properties? Right click on the desktop > properties > settings tab?

Default No setting for 1440x900

Yes you are correct, and thank you.

However I do not find a match for 1440x900.

I currently have the external monitor set at
1024x768. Will matching to 1440x900 improve
resolution quality and detail?
all video and pics are grainy now.

thanks again for quick reply.

oh and btw Welcome to PCHF!

Chris

Looks like you may have the wrong driver installed for your graphics card, here is the correct one: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...200sp2vidx.exe

Also, if you are looking at the display settings, enable the 2nd screen and then check to see if you can raise the resolution on that screen to 1400
